Abortion is a blessing— a blessing for parents already raising their children and a blessing for people of faith deciding how to build their families. The decision to have an abortion should be guided by our own faith, family, and future, not controlled by politicians and their cruel anti-abortion agendas. At Lilith Fund, we fight everyday to ensure Texans can access abortion care with love and compassion, not barriers and judgment.
“My faith tells me all things start and end with God. I believe that wholeheartedly, knowing that all my lived experiences are by design. When it comes to my autonomy and my choice, God knows to direct the path, but let me choose for He was once a choice of mine. I chose to have faith and I chose to have an abortion, and I am who I am because of it.” -CoWanda, We Testify Texas Storyteller
For more than two decades, Texas abortion funds have been lifelines for Texans seeking abortion care, providing our communities with financial assistance and help navigating a web of restrictions imposed by extremist lawmakers.
Over the last year, anti-abortion extremists in cities like Waskom, Naples, Joaquin, and others have passed local laws designed to shame and confuse patients seeking abortion care, and to intimidate abortion funds and advocacy organizations like ours. These local attacks follow decades of state abortion restrictions that have shut down half of the clinics in our state and forced more Texans to travel for their abortion care. The impact falls hardest on communities that are struggling to make ends meet, including our clients.
We speak to Texans seeking abortion care every day and often hear confusion about whether or not abortion is legal—a direct result of these lies and misinformation. To be clear: Abortion is still legal in Texas, in every city, county and community across the state.
“In the same way that the Divine has provided us the opportunity to choose, we should always be providing that to others. As people of faith we are called to serve people. We need to remember that call.” -Reverend Deneen Robinson, The Afiya Center

“It is a blessing to have what you need to care for yourself and your family. My faith in God is the foundation of my work because Christians have been called to help those in need and love our neighbors. Everyday I am given the opportunity to do exactly that by supporting people in accessing abortion. I take every opportunity to let our callers know that they are supported and loved. That’s what my faith leads me to do.” Shae W., Hotline Program Director, Lilith Fund
